The most common Japanese utensil. You will see it everywhere. Some restaurants offer the option of a fork and knife depending on what you order.

At an early age, Japanese children learn how to use chopsticks.

How to use chopsticks:
Holding chopsticks is like holding a pen...except there are two pens. The bottom piece is supported by the middle finger. The top is held by the thumb and the index finger.

DON'T poke your food to pick it up. That is considered rude.
DON'T pass food chopsticks to chopsticks. It's considered unsanitary.
DON'T stick your chopsticks vertically in your bowl. You're not here to claim the North Pole.
DO lay your chopsticks horizontally on the bowl when you're done eating.
